                                                      Frequently Asked Questions

-How much does this service cost?
There is a membership fee of $29 dollars per month.

-Is Trendbetting.com gambling?
No. Trendbetting.com in not a gambling website. I do not book bets. Trendbetting.com is for entertainment and informational purposes only. This is a sports handicapping website where members are advised concerning who to bet on and how to bet them, similar to your stock broker advising you on which stock or fund to invest your money in. Gambling is risky both at the sports book and the stock market. Each member is responsible for his or her personal betting activities. Any form of gambling should be done legally and you should check with your local authorities before making any wagers on sports.

-How do you rate your plays?
Plays are rated from 1 to 5 stars in 1 star increments where one star is one percent of your total bankroll. Several times a season there are picks that get 6 to 10 stars and are game of the year picks. It is important to bet each selection in proportion to how they are rated to get the best results over a season. Do not bet more than 5 percent of your BR most of the time.

-Do you pick every game every day?
No, every game is not analyzed. I only analyze and release picks on teams that are Trending one way or the other. At times that can be a lot of games, other times just a few. I do not hype or push a lot of picks and the reason is simple: Coming back from a bad weekend where you went 1 - 5 is easy enough. Digging out of a 3 - 18 weekend is impossible. Furthermore, going 4-1 or 5 for 5 is much more likely when you focus in on only the best matchups, but going 16-4 or 20 for 20 on a day is simply unrealistic.

-What is your record?
The W/L percentage stated on my website is from the previous calendar month except for football which is week to week. You can verify this simply by monitoring my picks on the All Star Picks page. The results of my picks are there daily and on the results summary in the bottom left of every sports page.  The monthly profit is in units won, figured for the current month and updated weekly.
I receive many requests for specific won/lost records and here is my policy: I select between 5 and 10 picks daily and the results of those picks are tracked on the picks page and picks summary section as mentioned above. There are additional picks and "leans" on my All Star Picks page for each sport. Many of these picks are parlay or teaser combinations and small unit "insurance" bets that I do not track and many of these picks are "split picks". I do not track these type of picks because a bet that is made as an insurance bet in order to bank a win should not and does not count for winning percentage. They are money management strategies.
Split picks are basically hedge bets and most baseball and hockey underdog picks are bet this way. You bet the same team, but put some on the spread and some on the moneyline. For example: If you like a basketball team to win SU and it is a moneyline underdog of +190 it will be getting perhaps +5.5 on the pointspread bet at -110. We would split the bet evenly between moneyline and pointspread (1 unit on the underdog at +190 and 1.1 units on the dog getting +5.5) so if the underdog wins outright then both bets win, if the pick loses but covers within the spread then it is a push, saving a total loss. The ML bet is hedged with the pointspread bet. Getting a push when others get a total loss is just smart betting and falls under the heading "how you bet is just as important as who you bet".
These type of split picks and money management moves are not monitored but you can track them yourself by printing the All Star Picks and the "yesterdays results" page for each sport. All picks on the website are left up for several days or up to a week depending on the sport.
With all that said, here's the problem with won/loss record: Even though I post every pick every day and leave the results up for several days, I still get requests to furnish all manner of won/lost data. Some people want to separate results in ways such as, "What are your results in baseball last year (last 2 years...or 3 years, etc.)?" or "What was your record against NBA pointspreads for the playoffs, not including totals?" etc. Prospective members ask for breakdowns by pointspreads versus totals and, of course, "What was your record last March?...Or since last November?...Or so far this year?"
I have had requests for only the NFL exhibition season results, or for only the NHL playoff season, or for only the NBA regular season since the all star game, or for baseball during only specific months or just interleague play and on and on.   It is time prohibitive to answer these types of requests.
Please feel free to track whatever sport or category you like for as long as you like, but it is up to you to sort them in whatever specific way you need. Please note that you should track my picks for at least 30 days or 100-150 picks to get an accurate assessment.
It is too expensive and time-consuming to look up the answers and compile the accurate data to reply to all the requests concerning past performance. It is more important to focus on successfully picking future matchups and making a profit for my members on todays games, while making the results of those picks available and simple to access. The most important thing to remember is this: as a professional handicapper my one and only interest is in making money and as a competent sports bettor you should have the same sole objective.
As an example: When I like a one or two point NFL underdog then I will normally take the moneyline instead of the pointspread because of the better than even money payoff and having only one or two points is not a big advantage. Since there are going to be a few games that the underdog loses SU but covers the small spread, then putting those games down as moneyline bets will obviously lower the total win percentage a little, but it usually returns more profits over the long run.
Finally, you should realize that achieving a high winning percentage does not equal making a profit. To amateurs this will not make sense, because the higher the winning percentage, the more money we make, right? No, not necessarily.   You would gladly win only 40% of your picks if you were getting +200 on every bet. That would turn a profit of 20 betting units for every 100 bets made, which would be equal to winning more than 62% of bets when betting eleven to win ten. You also would not get anywhere with an 80% winning rate if you are laying four to one each time. Profit is the bottom line.
It is your profit and not the win/loss percentage that counts

 -When do you release selections?
It depends on the sport. NFL and AFL picks are released twice a week, Mondays 4-6 PM and Tuesdays 4-6 PM. All times are Eastern Standard Time. College Football is released on Wednesday and Thursday, also at 4-6 PM. All Major League Baseball and College basketball selections are available daily at 10 AM. NBA and NHL selections are released daily at 12 noon. Always check the 2 minute warning for late line picks and other late game information.

-Is my personal information safe?
Yes. Your security is of the utmost importance. All member information is kept strictly confidential. I do not sell, rent or give any member information to anyone, anywhere, at anytime.

-How do I join?
Joining is easy, click the join button at the top of this page and fill out the form.
