very well to collect bigger wins and you
need the discipline to drop your bets when you are losing to have
smaller losses. It is easy for most players to press when winning but
not so easy to cut back when cold. But you have to do it.
If you have
the discipline to lower your bets when losing and not double down, you
will have the bulk of your bankroll available when the Trend switches
back to your side. If you lose your entire BR when you are picking
poorly, then you will have nothing left to work with when your fortunes
change.
MONEY MANIPULATION
Over the course of a season you will win some and lose some. If you bet
the same amount all the time then the wins will be cancelled out by the
losses and the vig. Therefore you must vary the size of your bets to
stay ahead, cutting back your bets during cold spells and betting
higher when hot.
Here is an excellent way to manipulate your bet size.
When you are planning to bet 2 games and the first one is a winner,
most players just let it ride. But if the second game is a loss then
you picked one winner and one loser but had a bottom line loss of
money. Even if you bet the same amount both games (risk -110 to win
+100) then you lost ten dollars to the vig. Again you picked 50/50 but
had a bottom line loss.
Here is where you manipulate the money: Bet
smaller after the first game wins. If you won $100 then consider
putting $55 on the second game. That way even if you picked 50/50 you
still have a bottom line win of $45. It is after that first win where
you have the option to guarantee a winning day.
SEPERATE YOUR BETS
Unless you keep very accurate records (and you need to) you should
divide your bankroll up into seperate sports, and in each sport further
divide the money to the teams you want to bet. The reason for doing
this is to ensure that a hot streak in football is not blown by a bad
beat in basketball.
For example: lets say that you have been on a hot
streak in baseball and on Saturday you pick 4 out 5 MLB games. In the
NFL you have been cold and on Sunday go 4 out of 11. If you keep all
your funds together the big win on the diamond will be shot down the
next day on the grid iron. The same thing applies to teams. You bet the
NBA and have zeroed in on the Pacers, picking them correctly four
straight games. The Atlanta Hawks are chopping you up, doing the
opposite
of what you figure and you have cashed just once in five bets on the Hawks.
If you keep all your funds together and bet the same amount each game,
your gains on the Pacers are wiped out and you are put in a hole by the
horrible Hawks.
When you divide your beginning bankroll into seperate
sport/team accounts you can more effectively and profitably ride
individual Trends. You could bet $200 on the Pacers and $40 on the
Hawks, yet have it be the same percentage of each teams available BR.
It can be seperate accounts, a bet ledger/notebook or just an envelope
system containing what you have available to bet on that team. You take
advantage of success in one area by having more funds available and
limit the damage a cold team can do by only having a smaller amount to
wager on them with. But only if you seperate your bets.
BET WITH YOUR HEAD - NOT OVER IT
Anything can happen in any game and a team can pull out a
win no matter how strong the Trend against them. The Trendbetting.com
game of the week is the best matchup of all the games and it is a 6 to
10 star selection meaning that the most you would risk even on the very
best pick is 10%. You should never bet more than 10% of your bankroll
on any bet. If you fire all the ammunition (your cash) in one battle
there will be nothing left for the fight tomorow. Protect yourself and
your bankroll by betting the right team AND the right amount.
